Parent Testimonials

Jay and MaryLynn Smith; Parents of Spenser Smith, Northeastern Univ; Belmont Hill School (MA)
Working with Ryan Leahy made our son’s college recruitment process a great experience for us as parents and for our Student Athlete.  We found working with Ryan to be the smartest choice we made because we’re able to focus on our son while Ryan used his endless skills to assess our son’s skills, best options and work his extensive network.  He matched his academic and athletic assets with world class coaches and institutions and created amazing options for consideration.  If you’re considering REB/RES …invest in Ryan and he will invest in your son or daughter!

We have used Ryan and Recruiting Edge for a few years. When we began, the process seemed mysterious, but Ryan helped us start off on the right foot. He gives each student athlete an honest assessment of their skills and gives them solid advice for improvement to achieve their goals. When the time comes for getting recruited for college, Ryan lays out a clear plan for getting recruited by the schools that best matches the athlete's abilities academically and athletically. He is also very responsive to college coaches when they ask for more information. Ryan expects a lot from his athletes. If your son or daughter has a passion for baseball or softball and are willing to work to achieve their goals, Ryan will help get them where they will be most suited and excited to play.

Trisha Girard-MacGregor and Kevin MacGregor, Parents of Tyler MacGregor, Columbia U; St. John's Prep (MA) '18

SJP 2018 and Columbia University 2022 Ryan Leahy was instrumental in helping our son navigate the recruiting process. He provided an honest assessment of Tyler’s abilities and guided him through the correct way to correspond with coaches. He held Tyler responsible for putting in the work himself and was available to answer any questions we might have had immediately through email or text. Thanks to Recruiting Edge, Tyler was able to achieve his goals. With Ryan’s help Tyler is able to attend one of the best academic schools and continue to play the game that he loves so much at the next level. Ryan has a broad network of contacts and was able to consult with us at every turn to help us make the best decision for Tyler’s future. He helped us prioritize what was important to us and find exactly what Ty was reaching for. Ryan had such a positive impact on Tyler sharing his extreme knowledge of the game and the recruiting process. - Trish!

Joy and Jim Gustin - Parents of Jake Gustin, Bryant U; Peabody HS '18
REB was an invaluable resource for our family throughout the college search and recruitment process. Ryan was always available by phone, text or email to guide us and answer our many questions. We felt he always gave us honest answers and in the end, our son Jake committed to the college that was the best fit for him. We highly recommend Ryan’s expertise both as a player and a coach as it will benefit any family with a child who aspires to play at the next level! ~ Joy & Jim Gustin

If your son or daughter has aspirations of playing at the next level, there simply isn’t a better avenue to get there than Ryan. Passion, knowledge, experience and honesty are just a few of the characteristics you’ll get with Ry and if you’re truly looking for the proper fit academically, athletically and financially, he is the answer!
As a parent and coach, I simply want the best for my family and my players, which means the right situation. Over the past several years, I’ve watched Ryan help numerous families attain this.
The college recruiting process is very involved and can be downright frightening, it’s no wonder that many folks get lost within this complex undertaking. Having firsthand experience with this, I can tell you unequivocally that my son Alex and our family would not have ended up with the perfect situation, like we did, without Ryan!!
It seems fairly obvious that anyone looking for that proper fit, the one person with the vast network, passionate/caring/nurturing/teaching approach and equally as important, brutal honesty (this shouldn’t be overlooked or frowned upon as it is an extremely necessary aspect to all of this), then Ryan is your guy! If you want the best, go to the best!
Thanks Ryan, we appreciate all that you are and all that you do.

Dinah McDonald - Mother of Brendan McDonald, Endictott College; Boston College HS '16
We are Ryan’s biggest fans! Ryan has helped my son Brendan McDonald in so many ways.  I can honestly say that b/c of Ryan he was able to become physically and mentally stronger and develop more self confidence and direction in life. As a result, Brendan
helped his Varsity Baseball team at BC High finish strong , win the Catholic Conference and get into the Super 8 Tourney post-season. Ryan was instrumental in getting him into Endicott College where he plays baseball and is extremely happy.

Joe Gillis - Father of Jackson Gillis, Vanderbilt University; Wilmington HS '16 (MA)
Ryan Leahy's knowledge and honest assessment of the recruiting process was invaluable to our family as we navigated our way through it. Ryan was with us from the beginning and helped us to evaluate which schools would be a good fit for Jackson, and which might not. His contacts within the college coaching ranks seem infinite.  Most families only get one shot at the college recruiting process and you want to make sure that you are aware of all options and possibilities open to your player. Ryan's contacts and honest assessment of both Jackson and colleges of interest to him, helped him achieve his goal of playing college baseball at the highest level.

Kyle Reagan - Father of Bryce Reagan - University of Texas; IMG Academy '18
We started working with Ryan in the summer of my son’s freshman year of high school. From the first meeting to the video to school contacts and eventually through the clinics the interaction with Ryan Leahy has always been professional, honest, informative, and helpful. Ryan takes the “long vision” with aspiring college players in identifying the right fit for them as students, as citizens of the campus, and as players in their program. The data shows how difficult it is to play this game beyond the high school level and Ryan’s background and experiences are relatable to every player whether their future is in division 1, 2, 3 or even pro baseball. He can speak knowledgeably about all of the above. Once my son Bryce made his commitment to college, REB seamlessly transferred to the true baseball side and getting him ready for college baseball. We drive over an hour each way to get to the clinics and there are NO complaints- we are usually the first to sign up as soon as the dates are announced.
Very few, if any services of this kind have that kind of 360* coverage for a player and his family. As a parent, speaking to other parents, do NOT try and go at this recruiting thing alone. You ARE the only amateur in the room when they come calling and you need to prepare and protect your player so that he is making the best and most informed decision about the right fit at the next level. Remember, if your son goes on to become a hall of fame baseball player-- he’ll be unemployed at age 40! REB is about much more than preparing him for the next season or team- it’s about preparing them for lifelong success. Ryan puts all the tools in your son’s “toolbox” and prepares him for the next game, the next season, and even his first job interview. When I see parents of younger players today they often ask me for advice on what they should be doing. I tell them “Call Recruiting Edge Baseball and talk to Ryan Leahy.”

Gary Paul - Father of Max Paul, Roger Williams Univ; Danvers HS '17 (MA)
For true honest assessments of education and player abilities REB should be your only choice! Ryan's approach is truthful and realistic, contact Ryan if you're serious about your son playing baseball in college!

Bill Burt - Father of Max Burt, Captain Northeastern University; St. John's Prep '14 (MA)
One on one, there is not a better avenue for high school players that want to play college baseball than Recruiting Edge Baseball and Ryan Leahy. He not only teaches the finite fundamentals of the game, offensively and defensively, but he also focuses on the mental toughness needed to improve and survive in this sport. He knows the recruiting process as well as anyone in this area and has relationships with dozens and dozens of college coaches. But the best part is that you and your son will get the truth about his talent level, not false promises.

Tom Shemick - Father of Tyler Shemick, Southern New Hampshire; LaSalle Academy RI '15 (RI)
I have spent a lot of time and money sending my son to showcases on the East Coast and I would like to say Ryan Leahy is one of the best coaches/recruiters that I have had the opportunity to meet.  In short this guy is the real deal.  Between his contacts, his knowledge of baseball, and his ability to teach… bar none he’s the whole package. Ryan started his business, Recruiting Edge Baseball and I can say his follow through skills and determination are key factors in the success he is experiencing today and that will continue in the future. If you have the opportunity to be involved in any of his programs, take advantage of it….  you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Ryan, for all that you've done. Best wishes to you and your family.

Dr. Tom Russo - Father of Thomas Russo, Holy Cross; Boston College High School '14 (MA)
The most valuable lesson I learned, now that the college baseball process is completed, is that it doesn't matter if your son plays for a top high school program and a highly competitive club team. There is no guarantee that college recruiters will find him. We had attended many high profile showcases with our son, Thomas, but it wasn't until Ryan worked with him, evaluated him and worked out a plan for his college future that we felt we were moving in the right direction.
Ryan helped us navigate the complex recruiting process and was able to keep Thomas focused on the things that he needed to address, while he contacted coaches through his vast network of college baseball. Ryan's clinics and feedback gave Thomas the confidence to perform at a peak level. Ryan's coaching style and positive attitude positioned Thomas to succeed in his goal to play Division 1 Baseball at Holy Cross. My only regret is that I didn't find Ryan sooner in the process, because of his vast network of contacts and his knowledge of the college baseball recruiting process. Thank you Ryan Leahy.

Patricia Lane- Mother of Thomas Lane, Boston College; Phillips Andover '15 (MA)
"Ryan Leahy’s assistance and impact on the college recruiting process for our son was outstanding. His knowledge of the game, in combination with his unlimited amount of contacts in the college baseball world was instrumental in helping Thomas achieve his goal of obtaining a college baseball scholarship to one of the top academic/athletic schools in the country. Ryan worked extremely hard in not only promoting Thomas’ skills and obtaining feedback, but also educating us on the type of schools that he could excel at. Throughout the entire process, he was extremely honest and served as a consultant in an area that was very new to us. We have Ryan to thank for all of the outstanding opportunities that were presented to Thomas."

Bill Warnock- Father of RJ Warnock, URI, NECCO, Ave Maria;  North Reading HS '13 (MA)
"My son R.J. Warnock played baseball for Coach Leahy for two years with Legends baseball. There are many things that Coach Leahy offers but one of the most important items for my son was that he made him a better baseball player. Ryan's focus on team and playing the game the right way as a parent made me realize that this was a great fit. Every parents dream is for there son to make it college, division one or not and continue to play the sport that their son loves. Coach Leahy made that possible as well. He was able to put R.J. in the position to be seen by many college programs and found the best fit for R.J. I can't remember any showcase or tournament that I went to that Coach Leahy did not know someone there. Also important was the fact that no matter where we went the college scouts always trusted his word when they were talking about players. This one factor is very important because if they do not trust the Coach they won't come to watch your player! Ultimately R.J. Committed to URI and is competing for a position right now as a freshman.  Why? Because Coach Leahy believed in R.J. and they both made it happen!"

Lisa Bragole- Mother of Nick Bragole, Captain St. Anselm;  St. John's Prep '13 (MA)
"My son learned more about baseball in two years with Ryan Leahy than all the other years combined. He taught my son how to play the game a the next level making the transition from High School to college a seamless one. He provided my son with the skills and tenacity needed to succeed on the college diamond. My son is a starting infielder at Saint Anselm College because of Ryan's dedication to the game and his attention to detail in which he has the ability to make a good player a great one. Ryan's reputation on the baseball field and his vast network of contacts enabled several college opportunities to become a reality."
